Pizza rolls with ham and pepperoni

Pizza rolls with ham and pepperoni. Nothing fancy, just good tasty pizza rolls with a delicious filling. These rolls are perfect for a lunch box, a picnic or a birthday party. The rolls can be frozen and thawed on the kitchen counter or in the oven. I made them a little big, but if you divide the dough into two parts, you can make smaller pizza rolls. This dough can also be used for delicious sausage rolls. I have another recipe for pizza rolls too—with wholewheat flour in the dough. Enjoy!

Dissolve the yeast in a little of the water in a food mixer. Then add the rest of the water, the buttermilk, sugar, salt and oil and mix. Now add about half of the flour and knead the dough well in the machine. Then add more flour until the dough is fine and glossy and releases from the bowl. Add the softened butter a little at a time while the machine is running and make sure the butter is well kneaded into the dough. Cover the bowl with a dish towl and let the dough rise in the bowl for about 1.5 hours at room temperature.

Roll the dough out into a square on a floured surface. Spread the tomato puree, ham, pepperoni, cheese and oregano over the entire dough, making sure to spead all the way out to the edges. Roll the dough into a long sausage and cut it into equal sized rolls. You can either lay the rolls tightly in a roasting pan or you can place them on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Allow the rolls to rise for 30 minutes while you heat the oven to 200 C. Brush the rolls with the egg wash and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes until crisp and golden. Serve them warm or let them cool. Enjoy!
