Chocolate Confection Roll with Nougat and Pistachio – Recipe for a delicious confection roll with pistachio, marzipan, nougat, dark chocolate, and orange.
Every year at Christmas, either my mom or my grandmother would make a confection roll like this. Some years it’s simply marzipan and nougat brushed with dark chocolate, and other years it’s made with different flavors mixed into the marzipan.
This confection roll can be made and flavored in many different ways. Marzipan and nougat are almost a must, but in addition, freeze-dried berries and fruits are also absolutely delicious. Different nuts can be used as well, adding a lovely crunch to the confection roll—for example, it can be decorated with roughly chopped caramelized almonds. You can also try adding alcohol to the marzipan, such as Baileys, whiskey, or rum. I have brushed the roll with dark chocolate, but all types of chocolate can be used.
A confection roll like this is perfect for the Christmas season and can easily be made and decorated the day before serving, as long as it is stored in the refrigerator, well wrapped or kept in an airtight container. Enjoy!

Instructions
Chocolate Confection Roll with Nougat and Pistachio
Mix the marzipan with finely chopped pistachios. Roll out the marzipan between two sheets of baking paper to approx. 25 × 30 cm. Cut the nougat into thin slices and distribute them evenly over the marzipan. Warm a knife and gently spread the nougat to make it easier to roll up the marzipan.
Roll the marzipan into a long roulade. Trim off the ends.
Melt the chocolate gently over a water bath or in the microwave. Brush the melted chocolate over the roulade and, if desired, sprinkle with orange zest and pistachios for decoration. Refrigerate until the chocolate has set. Slice the roulade into suitable pieces and serve. Enjoy!
