Swedish chocolate slices

Swedish Chocolate Slices – Recipe for crispy and chewy Swedish chocolate slices, which are chocolate cookies topped with pearl sugar. These Swedish Christmas cookies are so good and very easy to bake. The dough is made by whipping soft butter and sugar until light and fluffy, together with light syrup. Then flour, cocoa, salt, and baking powder are added and mixed into the dough.

The dough is divided into two parts, rolled into long logs, pressed slightly flat, and sprinkled with pearl sugar. Once baked, they are cut into slices and left to cool.

Swedish chocolate slices

These delicious Swedish chocolate slices, also known as Swedish chocolate bread, are so easy to make and require only a few ingredients. You can add different flavorings to the dough, such as cinnamon, grated orange zest, chopped nuts, or chopped chocolate. The slices are sprinkled with pearl sugar before baking, and you can use regular pearl sugar or white Swedish pearl sugar.

The chocolate slices can keep for a few weeks in a cookie tin. You can also try my recipe for Aristocrats. Happy baking!

Instructions

Preheat the oven to 200 °C (convection).

Cream together the butter, light syrup, and sugar until light and fluffy. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, cocoa, and salt, then beat it into the butter mixture.

Divide the dough into two portions and roll each into long logs. Place the logs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between them as they will spread slightly. Flatten the dough gently with your fingers and sprinkle with pearl sugar.

Bake in the oven for about 14 minutes. Let the slices cool slightly, then cut them into bars. Store the chocolate slices in a cookie tin once completely cooled.

Enjoy!
