Kladdkaka cookies – a recipe for the best chocolate cookies a la Swedish chocolate kladdkaka

Cookies for 6 persons
Preperation 5 min. / Cooking 10 min. / Total 15 min.

Kladdkaka cookies (makes 12)

200 g dark chocolate

135 g butter

285 g sugar

2 eggs

245 g all-purpose flour

2 tbsp. cocoa powder

1 tsp. baking powder

50 g dark chocolate, chopped or buttons

Sea salt (optional)


Kladdkaka cookies

Heat the oven to 175 C convection.

Melt the butter and chocolate in a small saucepan. Set it aside.

Mix the sugar and eggs together in a bowl with a spatula (don’t beat it). Add the flour, cocoa, baking powder and butter-chocolate mixture and mix well into an even dough. Stir chopped chocolate into the dough.

Line a baking sheet with baking paper. Using an ice cream spoon, form the dough into about 5 dough balls (cookies) on the baking sheet. Bake the cookies for 8-10 min. The dough will expand – it should – during baking. Take the cookies out and sprinkle them with sea salt. Then let the cookies cool. They should be soft. Enjoy!
