Homemade kebab

Homemade Kebab – Recipe for homemade spiced kebab meat baked in the oven in baking paper.
It’s super easy to make homemade kebab meat that almost tastes like the real kebab you get in pita bread or flatbread. The kebab meat is made by blending minced beef with onion, garlic, Greek yogurt, and spices in a food processor until completely smooth. The mixture is then rolled out very thinly between sheets of baking paper, which are rolled up, and the meat is baked in the oven. The meat almost becomes “steamed” as it cooks inside the baking paper.

Once the meat is done, it is shredded into smaller pieces and briefly fried in a pan over high heat. A perfect, family-friendly dinner.

Homemade Kebab

It’s so easy to make this kebab meat yourself, and you can easily adjust the spices or add different ones. For example, you can add tomato paste or dried chili. I used minced beef, but you can also use lamb, chicken, or pork.

I served the kebab meat in pita bread with sour cream dressing, lettuce, cucumber, tomato, red onion, and feta. You can also try it with chili oil or pickled red onions. Instead of pita bread, you can use flatbread.

Enjoy!

Instructions

Finely chop the onion and garlic in a mini chopper until very finely minced.

Add the onion and garlic to a food processor along with the meat, spices, and yogurt. Blend until you have a smooth, uniform mixture. Divide the mixture in two and roll each portion out thinly between two sheets of baking paper. Roll the baking paper up with the meat inside (see the recipe video if needed).

Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan).

Place the two meat rolls on a baking tray lined with baking paper. Bake the meat for about 25 minutes. Unroll the meat from the baking paper and shred it into smaller pieces.

Heat a pan with olive oil and fry the meat for a couple of minutes over high heat. Serve the kebab meat in pita bread with fillings. Enjoy!
