Roasted Pointed Cabbage with Miso Butter
A recipe for easy and delicious roasted pointed cabbage with browned miso butter, yogurt dressing, parsley, and feta.
I absolutely love pointed cabbage, as it can be used to create so many tasty dishes. Roasting pointed cabbage in the oven, as I’ve done here, brings out its natural sweetness. The cabbage is sliced into four pieces lengthwise, drizzled with olive oil, and seasoned with salt and pepper before being roasted. It’s then brushed with browned miso butter and baked again for even more flavor.
The roasted cabbage is served on a yogurt dressing with garlic and garnished with fresh parsley, crumbled feta, and toasted almond slivers. This combination is so delightful and works perfectly as a side dish for dinner.
What is Miso?
Miso is a Japanese paste made from soybeans, and it may also include rice, barley, or other grains. It comes in various “colors” depending on the grains used. In this recipe, I’ve used “white miso,” which has a lovely salty and umami flavor and can be used in many dishes and preparations. Here, I’ve combined it with browned butter for an irresistible flavor boost.

Baked cabbage with miso butter

Baked cabbage
Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan).
Cut the pointed cabbage into 4 lengthwise pieces. Place the cabbage on a baking tray or in an ovenproof dish. Drizzle with oil, and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast the cabbage for about 25 minutes.
Browned miso butter
Brown the butter in a small saucepan. Remove from heat and whisk in the miso until dissolved. Brush the miso butter onto the roasted cabbage and bake for an additional 10 minutes.
Yogurt dressing
Mix yogurt with garlic, salt, and pepper. Spread the dressing on a large platter or plate. Place the roasted cabbage on top, and sprinkle with parsley, feta, and almond slivers. Serve immediately. Enjoy!
