Swedish caramel slices – Recipe for the most delicious Swedish caramel slices that are crispy on the outside and chewy with a caramel-like texture. These caramel cookies are incredibly tasty and made with just a few simple ingredients.
Swedish caramel slices, or colasnittar as they’re called in Swedish, are made by whipping softened butter, light syrup, and sugar until pale and fluffy. Then flour, baking powder, and salt are mixed in. The dough is divided into two portions and shaped into long, flat “logs” on a baking tray. They are baked until golden, then sliced into small bars. The caramel slices taste especially delicious when sprinkled with a little flaky sea salt on top.
Swedish caramel slices are made in the same way as my very popular recipes for Swedish chocolate slices and Dumle slices. It’s a super easy way to make cookies, as the dough is simply sliced after baking. The caramel slices will keep for 1–2 weeks in a cookie tin stored in a dry, cool place. Enjoy!

Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan/forced air).
Beat the butter, light syrup, and sugar until light and fluffy. Add the flour, baking powder, and salt, and mix well.
Divide the dough into two portions and roll each into long logs, roughly the length of your baking tray. Place the logs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, leaving enough space between them as they will spread slightly. Gently flatten the logs with your fingers.
Bake in the oven for about 14 minutes, or until golden brown. Let the slices cool slightly, then cut them into individual pieces. Optionally, sprinkle with sea salt. Store the caramel slices in an airtight tin. Enjoy!
